The Board of Directors and the Mayor are seeking an experienced and seasoned achievement-oriented leader with a demonstrated track record of success. The Board is looking for someone to work with them as a partner, a supporter, and a trusted advisor. The ideal candidate will help the Board to find creative solutions to the challenges it faces. At the same time, he/she will need to be able to speak up diplomatically when something is not realistic or achievable, of course, and be able to back up their statements/concerns with their research.
In terms of specific skills, the individual will have a business minded approach and demonstrated success in budgeting and finance, management, economic development and redevelopment, water and sewer systems, and strategic planning. Knowledge of and experience with intergovernmental relations will be important to the individual’s success. The proven ability to manage multiple projects from conception to completion, on time and within a budget, will be an important skillset for the next Administrator. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, public policy or a related field, and at least five to ten years of increasingly responsible experience as a senior level government director. A master’s degree or ICMA credentialing is preferred.
