The Village of Dane, Wisconsin (population 1,125), is a welcoming and close-knit community with a proud history rooted in the heart of Dane County. Established in 1899, Dane has transitioned from a rural railroad stop into a growing and charming residential community. The Village Board is deeply invested in ensuring a positive and successful experience as it welcomes its first Village Administrator. The Board is committed to providing ongoing support, guidance, and collaboration to help the Administrator thrive. Board members understand that a strong partnership between the elected body and the Administrator is essential to advancing the Village’s goals and enhancing the quality of life for residents. By fostering an environment of open communication, mutual respect, and shared purpose, the Board aims to empower the Administrator to effectively lead daily operations, implement policies, drive economic development, and build strong connections within the community.
A key aspect of the role is leading community and economic development initiatives to promote the Village’s vibrancy and continued residential growth. The Village Administrator develops administrative procedures, prepares ordinances and resolutions as needed, and advises the Village Board, commissions, and committees on policy and operational matters. Additional duties include responding to citizen inquiries and providing solutions, as well as attending and supporting meetings of the Board, commissions, and committees.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership and communication skills, and a proven ability to advance economic development initiatives that align with the Village’s growth and vision. A successful candidate will demonstrate a genuine interest in engaging with residents and businesses, fostering relationships, and actively participating in community activities and organizations.
